Health Blogger Bake Off 2017: Healthy Protein Cookie Dough Recipe

David Templer's healthy protein cookie dough recipe, part of the ‘2017 Multipower Great British Health Blogger Bake Off’.

18. September 2017

I've been invited to take part in the 2017 Multipower Great British Health Blogger Bake-off and I am absolutely delighted to be involved.

I shared a picture on my Instagram of a healthy protein cookie dough recipe that I was testing out a few weeks ago, and my followers went absolutely crazy for it so, I am going to use this as my entry for the competition.

The great thing is that it is two recipes in one; you can either use the dough to bake cookies or enjoy it straight out of the bowl. Both taste great and are healthier alternatives than buying sugary versions straight off the shelf. It is also really easy to use vegan substitutions.

All you are going to need is:

1 tin of chickpeas
1 squirt of sugar free syrup
1 tbsp peanut butter (or use powdered peanut butter)
35g Multipower 100% Whey Protein - French Vanilla
50g 70% dark chocolate chips
1 tsp baking powder (only needed if you are making cookies with the dough)

1. Drain the chickpeas and leave to rest in kitchen towel to drain off any excess liquid

2. Put the chickpeas and a squirt of sugar free syrup in a blender and mix until you have a smooth texture.

3. Add the protein, peanut butter and baking powder into the blender and give it another whizz. Option: You can also add a pinch of salt and a sprinkle of cinnamon at this point.

4. Once the protein, peanut butter and baking powder is properly mixed in, transfer the mixture into a bowl, add a handful of chocolate chips and stir until they are evenly mixed into the dough.

5.  Once you have the dough you can either pop it in the fridge to chill before eating or, continue on to step 6

6. Pre-heat the oven to 200 degrees Celsius

7. Place some grease proof paper in an oven proof dish, mould your mixture into round cookie-like shapes and place them on the paper. The mix should make 6 decent sized cookies.
#TempsTips - wet your hands before shaping the cookies to stop the mixture sticking to your hands.

8. Bake for 10 minutes. Take them out. Put them on a plate. Take a picture of them. Tag me in it on Instagram (@Temp_tation). Eat them. Realise how good they are. Vote for me to win in the '2017 Multipower Great British Health Blogger Bake-off.' I'll love you forever. Tell people about my recipe. Get them to check it out on here. I will continue to come up with more recipes.
